I took a chance

As I mentioned (here), I thought I would take a chance and submit the pictures of Rory's nursery to Spearmint Baby since I got so much of my inspiration from their blog. I wasn't sure they would use the pictures, a lot of the nurseries they feature are amazing, but when I checked Spearmintbaby.com today I found Rory's nursery!

I'm so excited!!!! I put a lot of time and thought into the design and I am so happy that other people like it too! I'll have to share a few more pictures in the coming weeks cause I think I have finally found the fabric I will make her curtains out of.

More to come, thanks Spearmint Baby!!!!

And congratulations to my cousin who just had a baby boy!

Rory's Nursery

Here are the long awaited pictures of Rory's nursery! I must warn you, it is a work in progress. I just cannot find curtains that I love enough to hang in there and I'm still hunting for a pretty mobile of some sort to hang in a rather naked corner above her growing chart. But other than that I'd say it is done enough to finally share.

Here is the sweet little darling herself! She seems to really like her room.

I made both bunting and the circles which you can see better below.

Isn't this little chair darling? The blanket was knit by Rory's auntie and the my grandmother made the sweet little bunny for me when I was a child.

Oh, I still have to paint the large frame white, I changed my mind after I had already painted it off-white.

I would love to hear your thoughts!!!!

I'm even thinking about submitting the pictures to Spearmint Baby!

SOWA

This past Sunday Rory, my mom, my aunt and I all ventured into Boston's South End to go to the SOWA Open Market. I only recently learned of it and am so sad I haven't been able to frequent it more as it is open every Sunday from May through Oct. If you have never been, I so recommend going. It is a farmers market, craft fair, art fair and antique market all in one with some really good food vendors too!

I was so pleased to find so many Etsians selling there. We found the most adorable dress for Rory from this lovely little shop. I would buy her entire wardrobe from here if I could!

Little Girl Pearl

Which is reversable!

We also found this little number from It's Sew You! She has such lovely items, seriously check out her shop!

sew cute! hehe

And I'm sure you will all remember the wonderful Kassondraamada who gave away one of her awesome prints here over the summer, yup found her booth and purchased a great little framed print that I cannot take a picture of because my camera won't turn back on right now. But I will share this one with you, which I plan on purchasing as soon as I post this article.

We had soooo much fun! Can't wait to do it again. I just learned that they have a Holiday Market in December. I am so there, hello Christmas shopping extravaganza!!!

Sending Fall

As I am sure I have mentioned before, my lil sis lives in Miami. Now she loves fall just as much as I do and is always sad when that time comes around and she is stuck in 90 degree weather instead of up here picking apples, wearing sweaters and sipping hot cocoa. So for her birthday we sent her fall.

Rory and I searched high and low throughout the area to find little bits of fall to send to Laura. We found all sorts of fun and silly and yummy treats to send her. Everything in the package had to fit the fall theme, whether it be a fall item or within the color scheme we managed to pull it all together.

Our package included:

a handmade leaf banner to hang,
leaf window decals,
a small owl ornament (we love owls!),
pumpkin ornament,
hot cocoa,
mulling spices with tea strainer,
large mug to have cocoa and cider in,
every fall scented candle we could find at Yankee Candle,
a lovely candle holder,
a lovely letterpressed notebook,
honey sticks,
local maple syrup,
an acorn charm,
leaf earrings,
a mum ring,
leaf chocolates,
pumpkin chocolates,
a chocolate leaf pop,
and lots of pretty papers, ribbons and wrappings to go along.

I knew she would love it, and I had so so so much fun putting this together!

*please excuse the pictures, I still have to get my camera fixed and these were taken with our really old camera.

Oh my luck!

In August we purchased a Cuisinart coffee maker, a new camera and a new computer.

In September, our coffee maker stopped grinding, started groaning and tried to kill us by literally shooting the carafe across the kitchen. Needless to say, we need a new coffee maker already! And anyone that knows me knows that coffee is one of the most important parts of my day, without it I am simply unable to function. Rory prefers her mommy awake than in a sleepy daze all day.

In September, I dropped my new camera while the lens was open and broke it. It will turn on but immediately turns itself off again because the lens is bent and won't open all the way. Hopefully I can have it repaired because I didn't purchase the extra warranty that cost almost as much as the camera cause I figured if it broke after a year or so I could just get a new one. I didn't expect that I would break it a month later. Go figure!

In September, my new Dell  computer (I know, I should have known better) DIED! At first it would just randomly turn off but within a day or two it stopped turning back on after it turned itself off. So after about 4 hours on the phone with Dell, over the course of three days, they decided that it would be best to send a technician to fix my computer. Great right! Well I then get a call back from Dell saying that it would be at least 5 - 7 days before a technician could come. What the *!#@*&*!!!!!!! I work from home, how the *$#@ am I supposed to do that without a computer!?! So after I freaked they said that they could try to expedite my repair. It still took 6 days.

In September, I had myself a little meltdown cause nothing was working for me. But this was not spread throughout the entire month, that would have made it all a little less troublesome, no this all happened last week. The coffee maker started having problems earlier in the month but didn't try to actually kill me until last week.

For those of you who think I've completely disappeared from the face of this earth, I have not and you now know why I have not been so present. Don't worry, I have not forgotten about the posts, giveaway included, that I have promised. They are all coming! Please excuse the less than acceptable pictures since I had to dig out our old camera in order to take them.

Below is a completely unrelated picture but I have a hard time posting without a picture, its just not right. Enjoy this little bit of cuteness and have youself a great weekend!!!
